Sam argues most media lists (Forbes 30 Under 30, HuffPo) are pay-to-play vanity, but the Inc. 5000 is legit because companies must submit audited financials proving 3-year revenue growth to qualify.

“Yeah, that's a legit list. So that's a list that does revenue growth, uh, for like the fastest growing companies by revenue over the past 3 years. Uh, I believe you need to show your financial statements in order to get that. So I think that's like a legit list. Not everyone applies, obviously.”
