The Bag Lady: a masked BBM-only knockoff dealer in China

Shaan recounts a mysterious 'Bag Lady' in China who sold $400-500 luxury knockoffs so good they passed as authentic at Louis Vuitton. Operating only via BlackBerry Messenger, masked and locationless, she'd text a 2-hour pop-up address and make 10-20 grand before disappearing.

“And she would text out her location and a swarm of moms would come, and this lady would probably make 10, 20 grand in a 2-hour period, and then she would pack up and disappear. And she wore these like masks and glasses and stuff like that, so you never knew who who she was. And I just thought this lady was like the ultimate baller.”
