'Why not fly over and collect the $2M?' Reputation as leverage
Sam argues a friend owed $2 million should have flown to the debtor and demanded payment in person. The friend feared it would ruin his reputation; Sam counters that it would build a reputation as someone whose handshake is bond and who you don't mess with.
“But anyway, this guy who me and Sean are talking about, he was owed $2 million. And I was like, why didn't you fly over to where he lives and get like that fucking money? Like, it just like ruined this person. And he was like, oh no, it'd ruin my reputation. And I was like, ruined. They'll create a reputation as someone you don't like. That's like someone who like holds their bond and like you don't fuck with that guy.”
