Story

Ramon Van Meer took his son to deal meetings from 7, then asked his opinion

Raising his son Victor as a single dad, Ramon Van Meer pulled him out of school to sit quietly in big business meetings, including around a roughly $10M company sale and later supplier trips to China for his company Afinia, then asked him afterward what they should do. Sam calls it the model for raising a kid.

“And he would bring Victor starting at the age of maybe 7 to these really big business meetings. I remember he sold one company when Victor was something like 10 years old. He sold it for close to $10 million. And I remember he would go to LA from San Francisco and he would take Victor out of school and bring him. And Victor would just sit like next to him and Victor wouldn't talk, but he would, um, uh, pay attention to the meeting. And afterwards Ramon would be like, Victor, what's your opinion? What should we do?”

Steal thisBring your kid to real meetings, have them stay quiet, then ask 'What do you think? Should we do this?' afterward.
